HERBS AS REGULATORS OF PATHOGENIC MICROORGANISM ACTIVITIES

The paper studies the
effect of extractive substances of medicinal herbs (sallow, sage, mint,
chamomile, nettle and dog rose) on the growth of certain pathogenic
microorganisms (Candida
sp.,
Eschericia coli, Proteus sp., Salmonella sp.,
Bacillus subtilis, Streptococcus haemoliticus A, Staphylococcus aureus).
The data obtained show that the widest and strongest
growth inhibition spectra were recorded in alcoholic extracts of mint and sage,
respectively. A somewhat narrower and weaker spectrum was exhibited by alcoholic
extracts of chamomile and nettle, followed by sallow and dog rose producing the
narrowest and weakest spectrum of inhibitory effect. None of the treatments
investigated affected Proteus sp. whereas the sage extract was the only one to have exhibited inhibitory
effect on Bacillus subtilis. Aqueous extracts of the mentioned herbs did not directly inhibit either
of the microorganisms investigated.

BILJKE KAO REGULATOR AKTIVNOSTI PATOGENIH MIKROORGANIZAMA
U radu je proučavan
uticaj ekstraktivnih materija lekovitih biljaka (trava iva, žalfija, nana,
kamilica, kopriva i šipurak) na razvoj nekih patogenih mikroorganizama (Candida sp.,
Eschericia coli, Proteus sp., Salmonella sp.,
Bacillus subtilis, Streptococcus haemoliticus A, Staphylococcus aureus).
Dobijeni podaci ukazuju
da je najširi spektar inhibitornog dejstva ispoljio alkoholni ekstrakt nane, a
najači alkoholni ekstrakt žalfije. Nešto uži i slabiji spektar
inhibitornog dejstva ispoljili su alkoholni ekstrakti kamilice i koprive, još uži
i slabiji kod trave ive, a najuži i najslabiji kod šipurka. Ni jedan od
ispitivanih tretmana nije delovao na Proteus sp., dok je samo ekstrakt žalfije
ispoljio inhibitorni efekat u odnosu na Bacillus subtilis. Vodeni ekstrakti
pomenutih biljaka nisu direktno inhibirali ni jedan od ispitivanih
mikroorganizama.
