HUMAN ACTIVITY AND THE AVIFAUNA’S EVOLUTION IN THE PERIMETER AGIGEA – TECHIRGHIOL (ROMANIA)

 

Synopsis:

 

This ornithological study was focused on the Black Sea Coast between Agigea and Techirghiol Lakes. We present a synthesis of our field observations carried out in 1992 and we compare our results to the studies published by the end of sixties. The habitats’ changes and the high level of human pressure due the appearance of the Agigea channel and harbour are two origins of the great avifauna transformation. Our ornithological list includes 118 species with no more that 48 birds breeding species; the old studies present around 150 birds species and, among them, 61 breeding species. The Agigea and Techirghiol Lakes represented important breeding areas in this territory; now, the first lake presently is of no ornithological interest, whereas the second one is the most important aquatic birds’ wintering area in the south – eastern Dobroudja. Majority of the birds’ breeding species present on the Agigea reserve territory and are not aquatic birds.

AKTIVNOST LJUDI I EVOLUCIJA AVIFAUNE U PROSTORU AGIGEA – TECHIRGHIOL (RUMUNIJA)

  

Ovo ornitološko proučavanje usmjereno je na obalu Crnog mora, prostor između jezera Agigea i Techirghiol. Predstavljamo sintezu viđenja sa terena s početka 1992. godine i upoređujemo svoje rezultate sa studijama objavljenim krajem 60-tih godina. Promjene habitata i visok nivo pritiska ljudi usljed pojave kanala Agigea i luke predstavljaju izvor velike transformacije ptičje faune. Naša ornitološka lista obuhvata 118 vrsta sa najviše 48 gnjezdarica; stare studije daju podatak o 150 ptičjih vrsta među kojima, 61 gnjezdarica. Jezera Agigea i Techirghiol predstavljala su  značajne oblasti za gniježđenjena ovom prostoru; sada, prvo jezero nema ornitološki značaj, dok je drugo najznačajnije zimovalište vodenih ptica na jugo– istoku Dobrudže. Većina gnjezdarica prisutnih  u rezervatu Agigea nijesu vodene ptice.
