Synopsis

This review is prepared with the aim to check the present status and conservation efforts for large branchiopod species of Serbia and Montenegro. Most of presented data is based on our own investigations and on available literature. The internet and personal communications were also used. Nineteen species have been established. Four of them are listed in the world˘s IUCN Red List (IUCN 2004). Some of large branchiopods in Serbia and Montenegro are endemic. The majority of sites containing large branchiopods in Serbia and Montenegro are under significant anthropogenic pressure. The Red Data Book of Animals has not yet been published. There is only a List of protected animals of Serbia and Montenegro where large branchiopods are not included. Their habitats are mainly outside the borders of the protected areas, except for the Lake Skadar area and National Park Durmitor.

Key words: Branchiopoda, conservation, diversity, Serbia and Montenegro, IUCN, Red List

Sinopsis

TRENUTNI STATUS, UGROŽENOST I ZAŠTITA BRANCHIOPODA (CRUSTACEA) U SRBIJI I CRNOJ GORI
