Before you is the first issue of scientific-popular, electronic journal "Natura Montenegrina". This publication will publish:

·     original scientific and professional articles in field of biology, geology, agriculture, environmental protection and other, close ones

·     scientific-popular contributions

·     information on events significant for the field it treats

·     surveys

·     presentation of programs of sponsors, financial assistance of which has  significantly facilitated issue of this publication.

Publication "Natura Montenegrina" emerged as the answer to

·     poor financial condition, which caused the publications in which scientific results had been previously presented not to be published

·     increased needs of biologists and ecologists, among them increasingly large number of young ones, to have  publication in which they would publish their results

·     obtained results of scientific investigations of natural values we may and we should be praised for

·     the need to do the popularization of these sciences and application of scientific results.

Advantages of electronic – CD issue:

·     lower price,

·     easy communication with  authors and  users,

·     possibility of inexpensive "printing" in full color,

·     usage of all advantages of electronic publishing.

Shortcomings

·     there is no habit in our environment of using this type of publishing

·     lack of computer equipment

Copyright protection:

"Natura Montenegrina" has been registered as other national scientific publications. It is delivered to all national and more significant libraries in the world, scientific institutions and reference centers. Texts are protected from changes by selection of .pdf format of files, but it is possible to print them, copy, dispatch by electronic mail, etc. So wide spectrum of papers dissemination is certainly appropriate for authors and use. Original manuscripts are kept by the Board of Editors which is responsible for them, and which is the main factor of confirming the copyright.

Distribution of publication:

·     "Natura Montenegrina" will be distributed through the system of international  exchange of  publications, which we consider to be the most favorable in natural sciences.

·     via the internet site

Plans:

·     "Natura Montegerina" will be published as annual publication

·     it will be published in Serbian and English.

·     it will publish the papers of interested researchers from our and foreign countries

We are aware of weaknesses the first issue of "Natura" has. Some papers published in this issue have waited for several years to be published, and we found it incorrect  to demand too much from the authors; thus such papers have not been translated, reviews and corrections have not been complete. We will do our best in order to avoid such shortcomings in future issues. As of the third issue the entire publication will be bilingual (Serbian-English), the system of reviews will have been introduced and reviewers will be recognized experts from our and surrounding countries.

Our wish is that you accept "Natura Montenegrina" as a new scientific and scientific-popular edition. I invite you to support us and involve your institution in system of exchange of publications and in the reference system of scientific data.

We invite all authors of scientific, professional and scientific -popular articles to send their papers to the Editorial Board for publishing.

We also invite interested economic subjects, primarily those the activity of which is closely connected with nature to become our sponsors. "Natura Montenegrina" will keep enough space for presentation of their activity and get the world acquainted with it.
