Collection of reptiles was established in 2000. This Collection includes about 400 specimens of reptiles mainly from Montenegro. The base for the present Collection were some material inherited from one time’s Collection of Institute for Nature Protection and several donated specimens. The Collection is steadily increasing, primarily due to curators’ activities but also due to donations.

MSc Lidija Polović museum adviser herpetologist

Born in Prijepolje 18.05.1973. Elementary and secondary school completed in Podgorica. Graduated on the University of Montenegro, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Biology Department, in Podgorica 1999. Admitted to postgraduate studies on Biological Faculty in Belgrade, Major Morphology, Systematics and Phylogeny of Vertebrates. Specialist work on Mosor Rock Lizard (Archaeolacerta mosorensis) obtained in 2005. Degree MSc in biology obtained in 2007 working on morphological characteristics and reproduction of endemic lizard Archaeolacerta mosorensis (Lacertilia: Lacertidae) at the edge of species range. Currently working on PhD thesis on Dalmatian Algyroides (Algyroides nigropunctatus). Curator in the Collection of Reptiles since 2000.
